Looking to purchase a St Bernard puppy; found elegantsaintbernards.com. Site looked professional. Photos of animals looked healthy. Placed request for information to purchase puppy listed. Received txt message next day from 915-205-4715, that information was emailed to me to respond. Completed questionnaire and provided ship to information. The seller claimed to have the puppies in El Paso, Tx – which matches the area code to the phone number provided. When asked for payment, seller would only accept forms of payment which offered no protection to buyer (Zelle, Cash App, or Chime). When asked seller if Paypal was a possibility; seller responded, ‘sure, as long as you send funds via Paypal, ‘friends and family’. At this point I figured it was a scam as Paypal ‘Friends and Family’ also offers no protection to the buyer – unlike Paypal standard credit card processing. After I told seller I wouldn’t be placing a payment unless a secure form of payment process could be used I received an email stating how they were Christians and it was against their religious beliefs to lie, steal, or commit fraud – while quoting scripture. While the website appears very professional and well done; as each email was received the seller’s command of the english language got worse. The next day, I did a google search for any history to this St. Bernard breeder and found the website petscams.com – elegantsaintbernards.com was on their scam list.
