This just happened to me today. I was On Craigslist looking for a golden retriever. Came across this page that initially stated they were rehoming a puppy that wouldn’t have any rehoming fee. So I sent an email to the one that was provided [email protected]
A couple hours later I get an email from [email protected]
Stating they’re glad I’m interested and that their family is moving to Watford City, North Dakota and they have to rehome “Teddy” the puppy due to her not being able cope with the colder weather. She asked a few questions regarding if we have another dog, how our living situation was etc. The Craigslist add was for Atlanta Ga, so I was very confused when she said she’ll have to ship the puppy on a flight to Ga. Then she proceeded to say there will be a $300 re-homing fee and that she’ll come with a crate, blanket, toys and some food samples. It was also stated that she was AKC registered and no congenital health issues. I proceeded to email her back and ask why the Craigslist post stated no re-homing fee and all of sudden there was. Also, how in the Craigslist post they state that the puppy needs to be rehomed by April 8, 21’ but in the email she stated that they already moved there. Things weren’t adding up and she never emailed back.
I have been talking to her since last night my animal just died and it felt like a dream come true I love five hours away and told her I could just drive there and didn’t want or could afford shopping I have cancer . I feel so stupid for being so gulliable
I contacted by e-mail from Craig’s List for a chocolate colored Lagotto Romagnolo. The map on Craig’s List showed the Natchez, MS area. The e-mail listed to contact was mckennaalejandroga54@gmail. com. When I got a response, the e-mail address was: [email protected] – Sheilla Poston. Notice the first name is not spelled the same.
The next response I got from her was they had just moved to North Dakota and the pup does not like the cold, so she needs to rehoming her. Price of $300.00. (From what I could find, these are Italian dogs ranging from $1,500 and up. )
She said the pup would be flown to me – total price of $450. I replied that I know there are scammers and there is no way $$$ would be paid until I had dog in hand. So I didn’t know if we could do business. The next response I got stated she needed my name, address, etc. to ship the pup and to transfer ownership from them to me, which I won’t be doing.
Please beware – never pay in advance without pet in hand.
It’s such a shame some people are so dishonest. They should use that energy to find a descent job!
