In the first email, the scammer will ask all the right questions, putting you through the motions to prove your suitability: how would we care for our kitten, how would we train him, how often would he be alone? Then the fraudsters emails will get shorter and normally keep to sms messages. This is because the first email is a template where as you are now dealing with the actual scammer. The “Scam Breeder” will ignore any questions about their affiliation with any clubs or organisations, and questions about the kitten’s parents. Be very wary of websites, loyalmainecoonkittens.com and Legacy Maine Coon cats as well as phone number 470-333-6863 whose uses e-mail – [email protected] for Zelle payments. The guy went by the name Kevin Fondelle and also Kelvin Fon and probably neither are his real name and he is likely outside of the US as he had a foreign accent which should have raised red flags immediately but we were so excited about the kitten and he played on our emotions and said he was just looking for good homes for the kittens and asked us questions that seemed to express concern about where the kitten was going. Do not do business with him!!! I was recently taken for $750 which was for a Maine Coon Kitten named Henry. The payment went to Howard Bank in Maryland and a shipping company which I am sure he is associated with requested an additional $1,450 for pet insurance for delivery of the Maine Coon kitten. We immediately knew there was a problem and attempted to get the monies back with no success. I contacted Zelle’s Customer Service, my bank, the police, Howard Bank (after I found out where the monies went) and filed a Complaint Referral Form to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (DOJ/FBI). I have a provisional credit refund pending completion of the investigation so I feel like one of the lucky ones and highly recommend anyone who gets scammed goes through similar processes. Good Luck! We all need it with these sophisticated scams these days!
https://dreammainecoon.com/maine-coons-for-sale/ is a scam site took me for almost 900$
Hi, I’ve been talking to these people as well for a kitten named simba, its been two day of correspondence been us. And the lady/ guy? hit me back with I take zella, and I told them I dont have zella. I have PayPal but I also said if you prefer zella, I’m okay with that. But then I asked if they could contact me with their info. No response back so I said to my husband something ain’t right!! So thank God I didn’t send any money. Im so sorry that your sister was a victim of them. Please people do your research first before handing $$$ out. God bless.
I was just corresponding with them regarding a siamese cat named Bella. They told me they were from Dayton Tx, so I thought the Princeton area code for the phone number was a red flag. I searched the number and saw your comment. Thank you!! I will stop corresponding 🙁
I was so excited for this kitten. I’m sorry for what happened to your sister.
