They use stolen credit cards and invent identities to defraud people shopping for a bernese mountain dog puppy online. In the first email, the scammer will ask all the right questions, putting you through the motions to prove your suitability: how would we care for our puppy, how would we train him, how often would he be alone? Then the fraudsters emails will get shorter and normally keep to sms messages. This is because the first email is a template where as you are now dealing with the actual scammer. The “Scam Breeder” will ignore any questions about their affiliation with any clubs or organisations, and questions about the puppy’s parents. The main focus now is convincing you to pay as soon as possible. The puppy will be shipped to you by the scammers perferred delivery company. There is no other option. I came across the site.
No owner pictures, names, or location of the kennel are given. All the puppies are 50% off, and priced at $650. All picture perfect puppies are the same age, 11weeks, regardless if they're Bernese or Bernedoodles. No parent dogs are shown or named, but are supposed to be AKC registered. The pups come with health guarantees. All of these are red flags.
I inquired into an 11 week old bernedoodle puppy named, Joy. They had a nice professional looking email response with many adorable pictures and a video to make it quite convincing. At the bottom of the email it shows a phone number, 580-495-444. It just keeps ringing until you hangup. Then they text you. I texted back, & asked if we could talk in person. A little while later, they said Yes sure. So I called again for the third attempt, and this time they answered. He had an unusual accent, and it was hard to understand everything. I introduced myself, and asked him his name, he said "Mike". I asked where the kennel was located, and he said "Oklahoma". I asked where in Oklahoma, but I couldn't understand his answer. I asked if I can set up a time to come by the kennel to see the parent dogs, and the pups. He responded that they require covid-19 testing with results to be able to come to the kennel. Suspecting it was a scam to begin with I said ok, that's no problem. He was surprised, and repeated himself. I said yes sir, it is no problem. I will be tested for covid-19, and bring the results when I come to the kennel. Then asked for him to send me the kennel address, and if we could set up a time to come by. Then he hung up on me. I called again, no answer.
I have screenshots of my emails and texts.
