Yesterday my partner saw a photo of a cocker spaniel named jasper on trading Post.com.
I contacted the listed email. And we transferred 2120, with an attached receipt. The alias by the recipient used was mercy. I have copied the full thread of the conversation:

Jasper is a purebred Cocker Spaniel puppy that is looking at 10 to 15 kg as an adult (genetics has a lot to do with it!). He can as well grow up to 40 cm tall.

His lineage includes the likes of Rouvain Recorder and Newsreader of Lochranza.

All Breeding stock PRA and FN Clear.

His parents are OFA certified and cleared for hips and elbows with a score of EXCELLENT, nevertheless, our dogs come with a 1 year genetic health warranty as well as lifetime breeder support.

I believe my partner is pretty intent on adopting Jasper. I work from home in customer service and audio engineering. My partner is also home more often then not these days. Being able to take this fella out for walkies is a pretty good way to get us more active, haha. We have an open plan two bedroom home with a wrap around outdoor area where he could roam freely. We are also close to darebin creek trail which would be a great place for him to get out of the house for abit. We’d love to take him in. Please do let us know what’s involved with getting him transported here at what expense.

Great, thank you so much! We’re pretty excited

Needless to say. I found this website after I felt some of the emails were abit off. I couldn’t find the original account (ideal cocker spaniels) online when I went to search for the breeder today. I typed the Gmail address on Google and I discovered the email in this scam post I am responding to is exactly the same. We feel pretty disappointed we got swindled it seems.

So, what should we do now? I haven’t sent a follow up email to that original address but my partner is going to contact her bank tomorrow. Any advice would be appreciated. I also hope that the little information I have provided can be of some help to find out who this scumbag is.

Lesson for anyone reading this: Do your research on a pet! Ask for information. Speak on the phone if not in person. Visit a certified website etc. My partner and I just wanted something to be excited about during lockdown. Hopefully we can get the money back.
