A friemd of mine ordered a puppy last week (Jan 4) and they had her send money via Zelle. They set up a fake “tracking” that showed where the dog supposedly was. When it got to “Kentucky”, they contacted her and said they needed more money to pay for a special cold proof carrier to put the dog in the cargo hold of the plane. They wanted $1400 for that and said the dog would go no further until she paid that extra fee. She called them to question it and they told her that the dog would be “disposed of” if she chose not to pay it. She then realized it was a scam and confronted them, but they became angry and denied it. This makes me absolutely sick that people would do this.
