They use stolen credit cards and invent identities to defraud people shopping for a rag doll kitten online. In the first email, the scammer will ask all the right questions, putting you through the motions to prove your suitability: how would we care for our kitten, how would we train him, how often would he be alone? Then the fraudsters emails will get shorter and normally keep to sms messages. This is because the first email is a template where as you are now dealing with the actual scammer. The “Scam Breeder” will ignore any questions about their affiliation with any clubs or organisations, and questions about the kitten’s parents. Also — sorry. This kind of thing really chafes my hide. — I don’t know where they are getting the photos as a google reverse image search turns up nothing, BUT if you copy/paste their testimonial into a search engine you will find they are running this scam on every species and breed imaginable.
“Our cat trainer can’t thank you enough.” Sounds legit.
I don’t know how you do it, but you’ve given us boundless joy in our Mr Green aka Max! He is the kindest, gentlest, sweetest cat. He is gorgeous!!! We are so lucky and blessed. Our trainer wanted to thank you for breeding such a wonderful cat. Many times We stop and look at him. He is a treasure we may share with others. He would be an excellent therapy cat. It would be a blessing to share him with sick kids and elderly people. Thank you for our baby!!! Helen and the entire Pasternack family. Pasternack family
I found this via a popup ad. Wasn’t even doing a search on ragdolls, but have a PetFinder search going for a potential rescue that I check every day. Anyway, the email they are using is [email protected]. They claim to be in Oklahoma City/Norman, Oklahoma. No name was ever used. I figured it was a scam because the price was too low ($500) and the kittens were all allegedly 12 weeks old, but some pictured were clearly younger than that. However, one looked exactly like my Ragdoll that just passed, so I figured I’d fill out the form. Definitely a scam though!
